All I Want for Christmas is My Son to Sleep

Angry Sheep Red by Kyle May CC by 2.0

The First Mate was a champion sleeper from the beginning until about 7 months old. I chalked it up to teething, then a growth spurt, then meeting a milestone, being sick, or some combination of those. This has continued for another 7 months, and needless to say I. Am. Tired. I decided trying something new couldn't hurt any. I researched and found the Munchkin Nursery Projector and Sound System. It had so many cool features and was exactly what I was looking for. I decided to buy it for a Christmas present for The First Mate, but secretly I was hoping I would get the present of a full night's sleep out of it.

Munchkin Nursery Projector and Sound System

When it arrived on my doorstep it was still over a week until Christmas. I couldn't wait that long to see it in action. I opened it up and plugged it in in the dining room. I loved that there were 3 projection plates. A cute one of jumping sheep and owls, some jungle monkeys, and a underwater scene complete with octopus and a whale. They were also stored within the unit, so I wouldn't lose them. The First Mate was captivated with the images on the ceiling, but then I discovered the projector could pivot! I turned it to the wall so he could see the pictures clearly, rather than atop vaulted ceilings.

Then I toyed around with the sound portion of the system. It has multiple sound options. My favorite was the rain. I liked that there was a volume dial too. So many children's products don't give you that option and they are just too loud or too quiet.

Check out all the controls!

I also discovered the nightlight and tested out the feature that sold me on the entire thing, sound activation! Yup, if The First Mate wakes up in the middle of the night and starts to fuss the Munchkin Nursery Projector and Sound System turns on automatically. We had tried other light projectors, but they had a timer. By the time he woke up the thing would be off. We really wanted something he could stare at when he woke up to be entertained and lulled back to sleep, instead of waking up in darkness and crying for mommy. There is also a timer you can set for intervals up to 60 minutes, so it will still turn off after the child is asleep.

I am anxiously awaiting Christmas so we can put it to use in the nursery. All I want for Christmas is my son to sleep so I can get some rest!
