Breaking Records with Booty

On Saturday The First Mate and I participated in The Great Cloth Diaper Change. It was our second year taking part in the event. If you aren't familiar with the GCDC it is when hundreds of locations around the world attempt to set a Guinness World Record for the most cloth diapers changed at the same time. How cool is that to break a record with your kid's butt?

I attended the event with a friend and her son who is just a month younger than The First Mate. It was nearing cuteness overload watching them interact in the car together. The were baby talking and singing to each other the whole way there.

Once we arrived we waited for our swag bags (so many green goodies) and looked around at the vendor booths. I bought a Jellystone Design's necklace to keep The First Mate's attention while he is nursing or in my arms.

We tried to keep the kids entertained and happy, as it was nearing nap time. The change wouldn't happen until 11AM and we left the house just after 8:30AM.

Finally the time came for the change and world record attempt. Moms released their babies from their carriers, laid out blankets, and pulled out their carefully selected cloth diaper. Yes, I too, picked an especially cute cloth diaper for the change. I had to set them aside so they would stay clean for the change. I chose to have him in his Rumparooz Preppy diaper pre change and his Tots Bots East Fit Pooper Hero for the post change diaper. These are two of my favorite prints and you can buy them, or similar items, through my amazon shop. Just click on The Ship Shop above and see cloth diapering and baby essentials. I receive a small percentage of any sales through my shop as a member of the Amazon affiliate program.

I have to say, it was much easier to participate last year with a 6 month old. He was less mobile and quieter. It is definitely harder to wrangle and keep a toddler still for something like this.

The change went off without a hitch and we are still awaiting the final numbers to see if this year was another one for the record books.

Did you participate in The Great Cloth Diaper Change?
