These Tired Bones

bones by fredsharples via CC 2.0

The sounds of mechanical rain and heavy breathing surround my tired bones. Yes, I am worn to the bone with exhaustion.

My eyes glassy and red, but they stare at this peaceful sleeper who has brought me my fatigue.

He has also brought an awakening that I cherish. The realization that time goes quickly and moments pass.

Not unlike the clock that ticks by as my mind sorts the day. My brain still wide awake unable to submit to my body's craving for sleep.

A need for release outweighs the logic to refuel and recharge what has been spent in the day.

With a few clicks to the rhythm of that rain, out flows the contents aching to get out. It soothes me. It calms me. It readies me for rest.

With my mind at ease, limbs loose, and eyes heavy, I sink into the creases of comfort with my tired bones.

  1. Great post, Elizabeth. All women identify with this and you wrote it beautifully. Congrats on a job well done. -Carole

    1. I really appreciate you saying that. I was a bit worried to deviate from my usual style.

I'd love to hear what you've got to say. Please leave a comment and I'll do my best to reply to them all.
