The First Mate Turned Two

October Birthday Photo, Second Birthday with Pumpkins

She does it much better than I do.

My silly toddler is now in his "terrible twos," though we haven't really seen that yet. While I was off forgetting to blog, we celebrated his birthday with three days at our home away from home, Disneyland. We thought we'd save some money and be true to the blog by staying in a non-Disney hotel called The Jolly Roger Inn.

We will not be staying there again.

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party at Disneyland
The First Mate giving his best cheese face.

One of the days we attended Mickey's Halloween Party and The First Mate got to practice his trick or treating. The park was all decked for the spooky season, which always makes us feel more at home. My favorite part was the ghostly carolers floating on the River's of America.

Riding the monorail with mommy.

The First Mate's favorite ride turned out to be a tie between the Teacups and the Monorail. Our entire time at Disneyland was awesome, and I think The First Mate has asked to go back at least once a day since our vacation ended.

After we came home, we went into birthday party mode. Just a few days later we had his party at our favorite hangout, KidVentures

Second Birthday Party with Friends

The First Mate decided on a fire truck theme, and it turned out really cute, I swear. I have no pictures to prove this though. I was so busy with the party set up and trying to cheer up the cranky First Mate that I didn't take any. Just a work in progress picture of a banana cupcake with peanut butter frosting and bacon topping. Yup. We also had blueberry cupcakes with lemon frosting, at the two year old's request. They were awesome.

The First Mate got a bounty of new toys and clothes for his birthday. He also got a new toddler bed from me and The Captain. He was really excited about and loves his bed during the day. However, nighttime is another story. Hopefully we can get him to sleep well in his bed by the next birthday.
