Snappy Greens Cloth Diaper Review and Giveaway *CLOSED*

I'm sure you've heard me talk about cloth diapers before. Once you decide to cloth diaper it can become a bit of an obsession. If you cloth diaper too, I'm sure you can relate. If you don't, let me explain how you can love something that is made to collect poop. There are three (main) reasons I love cloth diapers.

  1. The are good for the environment.
  2. There are more affordable than disposables.
  3. They are so stinking cute.
I was pretty good at only buying diapers when the need for something arose. That is, until I discovered Snappy Greens. I found myself stalking my first cloth diaper stocking for a cute print. Then The Captain said I could get more than one! Once we actually tried them on The First Mate, I was hooked. Check out our current Snappy Greens stash.

Disclosure: I have been buying Snappy Greens diapers with my own money for some time now. Rebecca, the WAHM behind Snappy Greens, generously offered up a diaper to give away to you guys when she heard how much I liked her diapers. I was not compensated for this post and the review and opinions are all my own.

Snappy Greens offers a One Size Hybrid Fitter Diaper. All diapers are snap closure with three snaps per tab. The tabs do overlap to accommodate smaller babies. There is also the option to add a fold down rise at no cost to fit both small and large babies.

As a OS Hybrid diaper, there is a snap in soaker instead of a pocket. This allows you to customize the absorbency level. Each diaper includes three soakers.  You can also fold the soakers to have more layers of absorbency where your baby needs it. We fold them so the thickest layer is in the front, for my son. The top two soakers have two layers, comprised of heavy bamboo fleece topped with cotton velour. The bottom soaker has one layer of hemp cotton fleece also topped with cotton velour. The velour is very soft, even after multiple washings. I especially like the material of the soakers because there is no microfiber to accidentally touch the baby's skin if inserted incorrectly.

This diaper is a fitted style, which means does not contain a waterproof layer or PUL. The outer fabric of the diaper is a knit material, then a hidden poly fleece, and then a cotton velour inner. It should be worn with a cover for complete leak protection. I was sad to cover the cute prints with a cover, but with all three soakers, we don't even use one anymore. It had enough absorbency for The First Mate and we don't have leaks unless he has been it longer than usual.

It's been a while since I've used my gold doubloon rating system. I'm excited! Here is how the Snappy Greens OS Hybrid Fitted Diaper stacked up.

Fit: The fit is perfect for The First Mate and we haven't had any fit issues. He is a tall kid, 90th + percentile tall, so we have issues with diapers being long enough in the rise. The Snappy Greens diaper is plenty long enough and we still have plenty of room to grow in the waist. The diapers are supposed to fit 9-35+ pounds, and The First Mate is currently around 28 pounds.

Absorbency: Since this is a fitted diaper, it is not as absorbent as other styles of diaper. However, we haven't had any leaks, just a few times where the diaper was wet all the way through.

Ease of Use: I deducted half a point because this diaper can seem intimidating upon first look. It has a snap closure and snap in soakers that might confuse a babysitter. However, you can't really mess it up. Our nanny hasn't had any issues and even the Grandparents have been able to figure it out, and that is saying something. Another reason Snappy Greens scores so high in easy of use is there is no stuffing or unstuffing. I don't even remove the soakers before washing and they are still attached after a full cycle. These are actually our go to diaper when someone else is watching The First Mate because The Captain can put them together straight out the dryer. He can't do that with a pocket style.

Style: Absolutely a full score of five for style. There is such a wide array of print options and you can even send in your own fabric choices. I love that there are also fun unisex prints and prints for boys. Those can be hard to come by.

Value: If you read my blog regularly, you may know I am cheap. It was tough to shell out $27 for a diaper, but once we discovered how great it was, it was worth it. They may be pricier than a pocket diaper, but they are pretty comparably priced to other fitteds.

Overall Score:

I can honestly say these are my favorite cloth diaper we have tried. They are a great fit for my son and they have held up with lots of wash and wear. Since I love them so much, here is giveaway to share the love with you. Enter using the rafflecopter form below to win your own Snappy Greens OS Hybrid Fitted Diaper in Red Fleece M&M print.
