Bloggers by the Beach

It's not often that I have a weekend away from the family to relax and do something just for me. Actually, that's never happened since I've been a Mom, so it was beyond overdue. When I received the invite to Sunset Millennial Summit, it was perfect opportunity! I was already attending the Women Get Social conference, so a weekend hanging out with bloggers by the beach was exactly what I needed. It was easy to get The Captain on board with my free weekend away, once he realized it meant a night with the house to himself. Thank goodness for grandparents who babysit!

The first annual #SMsummit in San Diego, CA

When I arrived that evening, I was pleased to find a small, intimate gathering and a few familiar faces. As a newbie to blogging and a conference virgin, I wasn't sure what to expect. The beautiful beach house was also cozy and just the right venue for this weekend summit.

Whole Foods amazing spread at #SMsummit

This spread from Whole Foods La Jolla was awesome. I had just finished a run before making my way to the beach, and I was starving! I probably confessed my love for goat cheese a few too many times, but my love is real. I managed to make a delicious and healthy plate that was bootcamp approved.

We dined al fresco and talked about our blogs, life, and how smoked gouda is the vegetarian's bacon. Then it was upstairs for some enlightening Q & A with Chelsea Day of Someday I'll Learn and founder of Millennial Blogs. She also gave a great presentation at Women Get Social that weekend about delegating our the details of blogging. Man are there details. She was also my lunch mate at the conference and we got to enjoy the waiter's doucheyness disdain for us people with food restrictions.

The summit was hosted by both Chelsea and Amy, and it they did an amazing job. Amy Askin, of Beloved Atmosphere opened up her stunning beach vacation home for all of us to enjoy. It was much better than a hotel and it really felt like home. She even let me plug in my car. If you're looking for a getaway, I highly recommend her spacious beach house

All in all, I call the weekend a success. I was able to get out of my house of dudes and spend some time with some intelligent ladies. I rarely get to focus on the blog part of my career, as I have a more demanding job of being a mom and a full time retail manager. It was nice to get in tune with my other side.

I am still reminded of Sunset Millennial Summit daily when I'm pigging out sensibly enjoying some of the Whole Foods swag bag snacks. Seriously obsessed with Blueberry Blaze Trail Mix and Jackie's Jams. So good. I'm sure the other attendees agree.

In case you are wondering what other bloggers were beach side with me all weekend, the guest list included:
